If you are a small business using VPN, SonicWall TZ300 is an excellent choice for you. It supports only up to 10 IPSec connections and up to 50 SSL but offers an enterprise-grade protection thanks to its additional security features. SonicWALL’s Capture Advanced Threat Protection helps to detect potential threats in real time, analysing suspicious files in the cloud. For additional security, you can also add intrusion prevention or anti-malware filtering to your SonicWALL plan.

Also, the device’s filtering policies can be customised depending on the business requirements and can be scheduled to be active between specific time or days. That makes it easier to support the productivity of employees by managing web browsing or messaging possibilities.

Finally, like all modern SonicWALL devices, it supports Simple Client Provisioning (SCP), which is exclusively available in VPN Tracker 365 on a Mac and makes setup a breeze.



How to configure VPN on SonicWALL TZ300

You can prepare your SonicWALL TZ300 to VPN connection in a few simple steps:

  1. Connect to the web interface of your SonicWALL TZ300.
  2. Navigate to the “Manage” page in the top menu.
  3. Go to the “Network” > “Interface” and write down Public (WAN) IP address.
  4. If you are using IPSec VPN, go to “​VPN​” > “Group VPN​” > “General​” > “Shared Secret​” and configure a Pre-Shared key.
  5. If you are using SSL VPN, you will also need the Port Number and Domain which you can find under “SSL VPN” > “Server Settings”.
  6. Write down a username and password of the preconfigured user. You can find it under “Users” > “Local users and groups”. You can also add a new user there.

Set up a VPN connection to SonicWALL TZ300 on Mac and iPhone

Follow these steps to configure a VPN Tracker connection for SonicWALL TZ300:

  1. Download VPN Tracker free
  2. Create a new connection, search for SonicWALL > TZ Series and choose “GroupVPN IPSec” or “SSL VPN”- depending on your router settings.
    a) If you are using IPSec VPN, make sure “Simple Client Provisioning” is enabled. Enter your VPN Gateway, Pre-Shared key and user credentials.
    b) If you are using SSL VPN, fill in your VPN Gateway, Port Number, domain and user credentials.
